Mechanics’ Institution Trust.

Swindon’s only building preservation Trust that combines community usage with building restoration; conservation and history.

We seek to maximise our social impact through the use of our buildings. You can hire our facilities, visit our Railway Village Museum and get involved in our events and projects that take place all year round.

We have a growing community of members and volunteers, who are all passionate about Swindon’s Heritage. We can offer unique volunteer opportunities across the planning and delivery of community and heritage activities, ranging from history and heritage projects to gardening and DIY. All are welcome and you can make a difference to Swindon’s history, heritage and future.

We believe passionately in Swindon; its history, heritage and culture; its future opportunity and most importantly its people.

We want to recapture the pioneering spirit and character that created “New Swindon” to inspire our town today.
