Lawn Woods Swindon.
Lawn Woods Swindon are tucked away a short walk from the busy Queens Drive road. The 50-acre Lawn Woods is often used as a pleasant walk way. Peolpe like to walk their dogs through this stunning woodland into the heart of Old Town. It is also very popular with fisherman due to its two huge lakes, hidden amongst the trees. A brief climb to the top and visitors can expect fantastic views of Swindon. You can see New College, the WHSmith head office building, and Greenbridge Retail Park. The view can stretch as far as Stratton St Margaret, just over four miles away.
It’s one of our favourite places in Swindon and the photographs show why.
Lawn Woods was once owned by the Goddard family. They lived in the Lawn Mansion that was built on the grounds in the 18th century. In the second world war, it was used as an operations-based. It was demolished in 1952. Today only the ice house and sunken gardens remain. All are accessible to the public.

Read what some happy visitors have said about Lawns Park.
“Shared a lovely experience with a friend on a social distanced walk. We sat on a bench looking out over Old Walcot and chatted for a hour or so taking in the view and environment. Lawns is a large park with different walks a few lakes and lots of different parts to explore and exit. It is an enjoyable place to spend time.”
“What a lovely place for a walk and such history relating to the country house which once stood there. I like the fact there was an information board telling you a bit about the house and former owners.”
“The Lawns is a beautiful, peaceful place right in the middle of old town. It has a huge variety of trees, two lakes with wildlife and good walking paths. It extends from Old Town to Old Walcot and Drove Road. Always busy now with walkers and dog walkers. Great views over Swindon from the highest point.”
